to learn the Japanese art of kintsugi repair for broken ceramics. Spend a relaxed hour and a half, mindfully immersed in the processes, tools and materials of kintsugi and take home your own beautiful kintsugi piece. You will be supported to complete a pre-glued repair using traditional natural Japanese Urushi (tree sap) lacquer, finished with sprinkled brass powder. All materials for the workshop included in the price. WHAT TO EXPECT This workshop is suitable for complete beginners. You'll choose from a selection of vintage plates and bowls that have been broken, glued and filled in preparation for learning the lacquer work and metal sprinkling stages of traditional kintsugi. Brass is not food-safe. For a finish that can be used in contact with food, urushi lacquer works well as a final layer. We will be working with urushi, which is lacquer made from the sap of the urushi tree Toxicodendron vernicifluum. Urushi is completely food-safe when fully cured. However it can be highly irritant to some people if it comes into contact with their skin, causing reactions similar to poison ivy. Please wear long sleeves and leg covering. Gloves are provided.

Cancellation Policy
The ticket price is non-refundable. If there is another kintsugi workshop that you can attend, your payment can be transferred as a deposit - just get in touch and I will do my best to accommodate.
